Guest PButros
Dear all, greetings from The NetherlandsI'm currently restoring my 1964 Thunderbird Hardtop which I have in my posession since 1995.I just finished rebuilding the carb but not quie sure if it is the original that came with the car.The engine casting numbers matched the year of the car but the carb ID does not.It looks like it is a '66 version, although teh base casting has a date of 10-12-1964 in it.I have two questions:1. Levers at primary sectionMy carb seems to have two levers at the primary side. The main lever is not the issue but the secondary is..I'm totally clueless about its function, at least on this car.At first I thought it may had been taken from a light truck or a model equipped with the cruis control option, but I 've looked at that section of the manual but that does not show it either.Your help in identifying the function of this lever would be highly appreciated. If it has no function for the bird I'l just remove or fix it to the main lever2. Secondary Venturi ClusterIt appears to be missing one of the the 'caps' on top of the cluster so I assume that it will draw false vacuum when teh secondary throttle engages. Can anyone tel me if this is just a flat plate or a 'domed' cap?? I have a lathe / mill so either flat or domed it would not be an issue in creating one, as I don't believe these are availabe from any store. Just wanted to make sure that whatever form it does not impede the carb performance.Thanking you in advance,PietPictures, (always good): Edited May 20, 2013 by PButros (see edit history)
