Packard minesweeper engines

I volunteer at the Packard proving grounds in Shelby Twp,mi and we have a brand new Packard v12 or v16 diesel minesweeper engine that looks to have a vickers hydraulic pump with it that was donated to us from the navy department. They said it was from a world war 2 minesweeper and they found it in storage and was still in the crate. We would love to have some information about this engine. We have no idea what or how it was used. Someone said they thought it was for running an electric generator or something that somehow ran the propulsion system. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
