Guest BigDogDaddy
My 40 Limited 81 has a short in the steering column. I've heard this is a nightmare to fix. I do not want to mount a button on the side of the column. I would like to get this fixed the right way.Any suggestions or advice ?Thanks,Phil
Guest buicker
Should be able to pull old wires out and draw the new ones through at the same time. Sometimes putting a bit of lube on the new wires helps but the cloth backed insulation on the original wires could get snagged when trying to pull through the column if they are frayed. Find something rigid but flexible to push through the column first. I know snap on has several tools that would work but they may not be long enough so you may have to improvise. I would shield the new wires with something like heat shrink before you pull them through.
