Placeing the new intake and exhaust valves in today and my valve keepers are to loose. They looked good enough, I thought, when we dismantled the motor to use, but when placeing them on the new valves they are loose and may not stay in place. Looking for a set, anyone have extras or know where I might find some. They are two groove, to fit a stem of 3/8 or .372 about .500 in height.

Thanks

Correct me if I am wrong but I thought the valve stem "Keeper" that is called the "Damper" A16-4 in parts book are held captivated inside the A16-5 "Retainer" in a tapered seat cavity that only grips tighter when valve spring pressure is exerted.

When you say they feel looser now is it because the "new" valves [Repro's?] may not be under cut deep enough for the damper to grip the stem deep enough?

The parts book says the same Damper *Studebaker number 168535* was used from 1929 thru 1940 on all President 8 engines so donor parts should more available than many parts.
