Guest scott mich bca # 6619
I am looking for the seal that goes on the brake pedal shaft, on the firewall side where it goes through the floor and out the firewall.
It is approx. 2"-3" in dia. and shapped like a bellows.
It does not seem like they re-manufacture it, but maybe somebody has a good used one, as mine disintegated when I took it off.
Thanks,
Scott Mich BCA # 6619
Assistant Director
Chicagoland Chapter
1955-76C
1959 Olds SS-88
1986 48H19
[ 09-27-2001: Message edited by: scott mich bca # 6619 ]

Guest
Scott, I know the piece you are talking about....when you get one, you have to remove the pedal from the relay bar thingy...its a bolt/clamp type setup...kinda like the rods are on the pistons...loosen it up and spread it a wee bit as the pedal has to go in the same spot or else your pedal will be wrong as to applying brakes....in the shop manual it discusses how to adjust this dude...I am in need of this rubber for my pedal as well...not looking fwd. to pulling it off as theres hundered year old grease and crud around the bolt and nut...nothin worse than having the dirt fall in your eyes...
Hope This Helps, don55
Guest scott mich bca # 6619
Thanks Awbe, it looks like it may work. I will call Steele for the dimensions, to be sure.
DON, thanks for the tip, but I already had it out when I had the engine out last year.
Does not look as easy with the engine in however.
Scott
Guest
Right you are Scott...my brakes still arent working worth beans...dangerously sensitive when they finally do grab....may try a new set of drums, or at least see if I could borrow a set for this experiment and see where it gets me....Any luck on the P/Seat tracks yet???
don55
