Guest
I need to rebuild the top motor on a 63 Electra convertible. Since removal and installation is such a pain, I would like to replace the brushes while I have it out of the car. The problem is that I can't find anyone who sells the brushes. I have tried all of the main suspects (Hydro-E-Lectric, Convertible Specialists, Convertible Service, Durabuilt Hydraulics). Some sell new seals, but no one has the brushes. Convertible Service will replace the brushes, but only as part of a $130/3-week rebuild. I have neither the time nor the inclination to pay for something that I can do cheaper and faster myself.
My questions are:
- Does anyone know a source for these brushes?
- Does anyone know who makes the replacement motors that all these guys sell and if they have interchangeable components with an OEM motor?
Thanks.
