Advice on Purchasing '50 Buick

Guest

Recommended Posts

I am considering purchasing a '50 Buick model 43 4 door Sedanette. I am new to Buicks so I was hoping to get some advice. The car is a good driver with a great body and runs very well. It needs paint and some upholstery work. It has a new clutch, new carb, new fuel pump and relined gas tank. The motor purrs. The owner is firm at $2500. Is this a rare model or more or less a Plane Jane? Is the price right? Any info greatly appreciated. Nick. 3nichols@sprintmail.com

If it runs and drives, and has had that much work already done to it, and assuming there are no missing parts and no body work to be done, then yes, it sounds like a fair price. The model 43 4-dr. "jetback" or fastback is a fairly rare model, and very good looking in my opinion. I could be wrong, but I think 1950 was the last year for that body style.
Pete Phillips
Ector, TX

the price sounds pretty good if the car is complete. with missing trim or other parts that are unique to that year and model, you can catch hell trying to replace them.
i have a 46D, 2 door sedanette. i paid 2,300 for mine, and got a semi-running basket case. if you have the cash, and the floor pans are solid (lift the rubber and look) sounds like a fine deal.
see mine at: http://www2.pfeiffer.edu/~anoah/buick/
