Guest RyanR
Hey guys...I just got finished connecting the newly rebuilt Stromberg to the Buick. It seems to be getting too much fuel. It runs for a bit, but seems to be a bit rich and will flame out the top. Can you point me in the right direction to look at a valve of some sort. I have looked at the carb sight, and it seems the floats are operating properly. Any ideas?
Guest Tishabet
whoa, flaming (like actual fire) out the top? How sure are you about your ignition and valve timing? Is this happening at idle? The Buick shop manual which I have for my 38 has a section on initial mixture settings for the carb, you turn both screws in all the way (be careful not to over-tighten... don't want to screw up the needles) then back out a prescribed amount. That is the "starting point" from which you will adjust for a good mixture. If you have a shop manual there will likely be a similar description for your large series 37.The other thing I would check out is your choke, as that will of course alter the richness of the mixture...
