Steering shaft for '66 Skylark...

How do I get the steering shaft out of my '66 Sportwagon? The Buick manual is a little vague. (It seems that these shafts were a problem to reassemble, because of the retention spring behind the steering wheel. The threads on mine are stripped almost to the spline; many cars in the scrap-yards have had these shafts removed). Question 2: Will a steering shaft from '67 Skylark, fit my '66 Sportwagon? Thanks!

Scott, don't know for sure but i think it will. if so, i have one from the same car you got the 4bbl intake (67 sportwagon 400). would sell the whole nine yards, from steering wheel to shaft flange. reply if interested. thanks, Bones in middle tennessee
