36 conv top

Hi all

I am a recent proud owner of a 36 Dodge D2 four door convertible. I have a question about the canvas top in the down position. I find some fasteners on the back side of the rear seat. Why are they there ,except for a boot ?????This car not come with a boot. my question, is it suppose to have a boot when in the down position? Any specifice instructions on how to put the top down and where to connect the boot would be appreciated. If anyone has any info on how to operate the manual top I would appreciate it. I think I can figure it out but I want to make sure. The position and how to fasten a boot has me puzzled. It is a tan top, and if it is suppose to have a boot I can get one made at a local shop (after I remortage my house to pay for it) But if it has a boot I certainly want to have one. Any help would be appreciated.
