  1. To The Forum Members and Car Owners,

I have a request I would like to throw out to the forum members who own the 1959-1962 GM cars. I make a sunvisor tip anti-rattle grommet targeted for the 59-62 GM convertibles. Some of the forum members have purchased these grommets from me. THANK YOU.

I had an inquiry from a gentleman in New Hampshire who said the grommets were also applicable to the GM hardtops with the fancy interior like the interior stainless steel windshield molding. Since I know very little about the interior of the GM models other than the Impala, I need some help. The Impala does not have the long sunvisors. However, I am not sure of the Pontiac Bonneville, Oldsmobile 88/98, Buick LaSaber,Invicta,Electra,or Cadillac cars of the 59-62 era. I know the grommets are applicable to all of their convertibles since all of the sunvisors rest in the 'u' shaped bracket in the rear view mirror. My question to the other owners is basically, Do the GM hardtops of the 59-62 era have the long sunvisors resting in the mirror bracket also? If they do, there should be a grommet on the end of the visor tip. See attached photo.

I am looking to obtain any info or detailed pictures of the sunvisors in these cars. Especially where they come together at the center of the windshield. Anyone who has one of these cars and would like to help me with my data base, send any info and pictures to djb-sab@comcast.net. I suppose I will be looking at the applicable cars much more closely next year at Carlisle and Hershey. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

My goal is to get the grommets on the correct cars as these are not readily available through the parts vendors. If you send me a picture, please identify the car and year.

    Thank you and Happy Holidays,

    Doug

  6. I have been successful in reproducing the correct type (as O.E.M) sunvisor anti-rattle grommets for 59-62 Chevrolets and other 59-62 era General Motors convertibles i.e., Pontiac, Buick, Oldsmobile and Cadillac cars. These are "as correct" open ended grommets you can't normally buy from the vendors. You can buy the incorrect closed end ones. If your GM convertible sunvisors park in the rearview mirror bracket, you need these to replace your brittle, rotted, or missing grommets.

THESE GROMMETS ARE MADE OF SILICONE RUBBER AND WILL FAR OUTLAST ANY STANDARD RUBBER PRODUCT. IF THEY GET DIRTY, THEY CAN BE CLEANED WITH A MILD HAND CLEANER OR STANDARD RUBBING ALOCHOL.

NO DISAPPOINTMENTS! THESE GROMMETS ARE BEING SHOWN ON AACA BADGED CARS.

  12. I have been successful in reproducing the correct type (as O.E.M) sunvisor anti-rattle grommets for 1959 to 1962 era General Motors convertibles i.e., Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick, Oldsmobile and possibly Cadillac cars.

These are "as correct" open ended grommets you CAN'T buy from the vendors. You can buy the INCORRECT closed end ones (applicable to 63 and up). If your sunvisors park in the rearview mirror bracket, and you need these to replace your brittle, rotted, or missing grommets, these are the ones. See attachment above.
