  1. Thanks for the input guys. I have a 60 mile trip to take with the car next Monday, so I'm definitely going to change out my u-joints, regardless if they are bad or not. I honestly didn't even think about it being the u-joints, and it probably would've resulted in a pretty nasty accident somewhere down the line. I really appreciate everyone who shares their knowledge. Thanks again...

  2. Alright, here's my problem. Whenever I'm driving my car, as long as I am not applying any brake, my rear brakes squeal. It squeals about once every revolution...it's not a continuous squeal. It was doing this last year, so I replaced the shoes, and had my drums turned. The guy at the NAPA store said they didn't need to be turned, since they weren't warped, but I had him do it anyways. So anyways, back to the subject. After I have applied some brake to it, the squeal goes away....for about 5-10 seconds. After that, it slowly works its way back up to where it was initially. My springs all seem to be alright, I really have to strain to get them put back on. If anyone can help me diagnose this, it'd be a great help. Thanks a lot in advance,

  3. Hey everyone, I've got 2 questions.

    I've got a stock 1973 Riviera.

    First, I'm running with the stock 4 bbl Rochester carb with the thermostatic choke in the manifold. Just bought the car 2 years ago, and it seems as though the choke coil is on its last leg. I would prefer to get a new thermostatic coil, but I've been having a hard time locating one. Would it be better to upgrade to and electric choke? Any leads on where to find a thermostatic choke?

    Second, when I stomp on the gas, it seems as though the engine bogs down, and then it'll take off. I'm assuming this is the fuel pump. If so, would it be ANY advantage to get a pump from a stage 1 with a larger reservoir, as opposed to just replacing it with a stock 455 fuel pump?

    Any help with either of these would be greatly appreciated.

  4. In reasonable condition....it would drive if it had a battery and some air in the tires. Newer transmission, as well as a bunch of extra parts. It was smashed in the front end, so I have newer fenders, hood, bumpers, radiator fan shroud, all front grille parts. Also, newer rims. The rest of the car is in decent condition. There's some rust here and there, but nothing unrepairable. It would be a fun car to teach your son how to work on cars like my dad did. My reason for selling is that I bought a house, and my parents want me to get it out of their yard, so it must go. All reasonable offers listened to. I'd prefer to have it bought by a local buyer, as I dont have a ton of spare time to help with shipping, but i will listen to anyone. Pictures available upon request.
