  1. Hello all'

I am looking for suggestions for a future overhaul of my tired 350.

As of now it resides in my awesome '78 RIVIERA, but with a 110,000 miles, 155hp and a not so funny noise coming from lower end I believe the inebitable is approaching. I want to keep the original engine which is the Buick 350. It is coupeled to a TH400. This would be my first small block build up. BBB's have been the norm.

I know some of you will say keep it ORIGINAL,athough the the rest of the car is not. (previous accidents by previous owners)But a FINE example of the last rear drive Riviera.

So I would like to mildly flex some Buick Muscle....Any Suggestions??? cool.gif

  2. Hello Jerry,

Yes a lot of them are the same.

The Grille is not, but the Head light doors (bezels), trim on the the side/back of front seats (covers upholstery seam) same and needed.

Drivers side sun visor if TAN needed.

Steering wheel horn Button/Pad w/R script needed.

    Any help would be GREAT

    THANKS smile.gif

  3. I know your problem.

Have a look at the top of the wheel wells.

Acess them by pulling the trunk liner back.

Same thing happened on my LeSabre.

You may fined that the under coating has come off and there are small rust holes

above the rear wheels at top of wells.

So when you drive in rain or get a under carage wash you take on water.

To fix you can try to aplye some fiberglass fill from inside the trunk, then

go into the wheel well with POR15.

    GOOD LUCK

  4. A lot has to do with your driving technique, and driving conditions.Fast hard stops from high speeds, warp rotors.Lots of city stop signs burn up pads.

Most of the time you will replace front pads twice, to every rear replacement.

Today's rotors are thin. You can cut (resurface) them maybe twice but better to replace w/second set of pads.I do for piece of mind.

Hard to put milage on brake life.

If in doubt, have a pro check it out.

  5. Thanks for the advise, and yes parking is getting tight.Have 16 yr.old like's LeSabre.Been drawing up plans for a car-port conected to garage.Maybe need to make drive way wider.$$$$$WE shall see what happens. That Riv looks better every day.But gotta keep the other half happy.

  6. This thead has inspired me to get a story on paper and submit it.Like my honey moon at Starved Rock State Park.Lots of driving and pictures, (of 94 LeSabre) or when I took a fishing trip to northern Michigan/U.P. took the LeSabre wheelin, lots-o-fun on wooded trails.I have pictures of a lot of places the LeSabre and I have traveled, good stories to.I dont know if I should take the time to put it all on paper and submit, do to the fact that I have never seen a 90's LeSabre,Park Ave.,Century,Regal or the Almighty ROADMASTER in the BEST mag. in print, The BUICK BUGLE oh by the way, I work at a auto shop and leave it out for patrons to read and get good feed back on the BUGLE.Cant waight till the April ish. gets here!!!!!!!!!!Till then I'l read the RIVIEW & reread the BUGLE.

  7. Hello, long time member of the B.C.A. new to the computer forum thing.Just need to say "Boy, this is grreat" I have a problem w/the BUICK automobile. It seems that thay keep following me home.Recently I ran across a very nice '78' Riviera. The wife say's that one must go, to bring one in.I currently have a '68 Electra 4dr. H.T.,'71 Riviera,94' LeSabre,'97 RAM Van conv.to haul the kiddy's around, and a 235k mile Pontiac (90 Bonnie)that the wife LOVES.So the problem is, which one goes so I can still retain 3 Bews.I'm thinking that the '78 would be a better road car then the LeSabre that I have been driving for a 133k miles. My comute is 39 miles of open hiway, one way.

  8. Hello I'm new to this Forum but I have to say that I'm all for a Modified Class.I would be sad if I couldnt show off my 71 RIVIERA which I was able to save by combining pieces-n-parts from 71,72, & 73 Rivs. More less this car is becoming a street rod. Lowering, stiffining, HEI'ing a (70) BUICK 455! This modified RIV will turn heads and scream BUICK. Plus it looks great next to my (trying to keep original) ELECTRA 225 of 68 vintage. As long as were not cross breeding ie;BUICK w/a Ford engine keep it G.M. at shows.
