    Knox Factory Springfield, Ma.

     

    After a long preservation project, there will be a ribbon cutting event at the refurbished Knox Factory building coming up this May. Owners of Knox automobiles can contact me for details if you would like to bring your Knox to display. Gregg 508.320.8876

    This event will be held at Gore Place the former home of Charles H. Metz & offices of the Metz Automobile Co. between 1911-1921.
    The Motorheads Car Club in conjunction with Gore Place, Waltham Museum, Metz / Waltham Vehicle Owners Group / Marsh Metz Owners & Waltham Historical Society invite you to participate in a show of prewar vehicles including those manufactured in Waltham, Ma. by Charles Metz, Piper & Tinker, Orient Bicycles, Orient Motorcycles & others including Marsh / Metz Motorcycles of Brockton, Ma.
    $30.00 Per Show Vehicle passengers free.
    Spectators $5, Children, elderly and handicapped free.
    *Period Dress is encouraged.
    Awards, Vendors, Food, Raffles, Trophies, entertainment.

    Steam powered automobile companies the alternative to gas powered were popular in New England in the early 1900s. Names like Waltham, Stanley, Grout, Doble, Locomobile, Skene, Whitney just to name a few.
    Note: 5 known steam car companies started in Waltham, Ma.
    Note: The Stanley Motor Carriage Company was located just two miles from our car show location.
    The Motorheads 6th Annual Charity Car Show at Gore Place is one of New England's premier shows of the season for all types of Antique & Classic Vehicles.
    Steam cars collectors & members of SACA Northeast the Steam Automobile Club of America will participate.
    Prewar World War ll vehicles of all types will be on display some manufactured in Waltham like Metz and Orient.
     
    Participating organizations: SACA Northeast, Waltham Museum, Waltham Historical Society, Waltham Museum of Industry, Metz / Waltham Group.

Join us Saturday September 24th 2022 for a gathering of owners and historians & enthusiasts as we explore the rich history of motorized transportation manufactured and or related to the City of Waltham, Massachusetts. A lecture of the rescue and restoration of a 1901 Orient by George King. A display of vehicles manufactured in Waltham. Question & Answer open discussion session where we explore Automobiles, Bicycles, Motorcycles, Steam Cars and patent that were brought to light by people like Abner Doble, Charles Metz, George Tinker, John Piper, Leonard Gaylor, Howe & Stainforth and others. Bring your pre-war vehicle and historical memorabilia to display.
    This event will take place in the newly restored carriage house at Gore Place the former corporate office of the Waltham Manufacturing Co. (Metz Automobiles). $20 per person which will include a tour of Gore Place at the conclusion of the lecture.
    **This special event is taking place in conjunction with the Motorhead's Car Show weekend of events and the Metz/Waltham Transportation reunion car display Sunday September 25th. at Gore Place. Pre World War 2 cars are encouraged to attend both days.
