Edit: I don't know why this rubber - like fender welting, back in the day - was just not made a separate part. That's the factory for you.

Jim, I've got two out of four with the rubber hanging. I could try something like trim adhesive, I guess. Might be worth a try vs replacing otherwise good looking trim (for other pieces which might not as mine). Thanks for the suggestion.

 

Wayne, thanks for the pointer. I may just contact them. As luck would have it, while it's the rubber problem up front, the driver's side rear is marred. If I can swing a deal for all four wheels to have decent spares on hand, even if Jim's suggestion works for me for now, might not be a bad thing, as these parts are getting really hard to find. (I had to track down an entire steering column for a turn signal yoke a couple of years ago.)

I am coming up empty on suppliers for this carpet ('97 Riviera). ACC has no listing, and neither do the other "go-to" suppliers of molded carpet sets. Any recent leads?

Hi, all...

 

I'm sprucing up my mom's last car (she passed in 2006), a 1997 Riviera, to take to the ROA meet this year. Among the various bits and pieces I'm trying to locate is a source for the rubber strip which was apparently available from the factory as part of the chrome trim "assembly" for each wheel. Mine are in varying states of tearing (poor disassembly by careless workers, age, who knows?).

 

While the stainless itself is in fairly decent shape, the drooping, torn rubber looks very sad. 😧

 

Metro Moulded Rubber doesn't seem to show anything for this. I'm wondering if another fabricator has anything useful.

Indeed, it's a Strato-Flight (CC) with Park. Thanks for the tip about the pan difference. I need to get back under the car and see if I can better identify whether I have a '56 or a later unit.

 

The engine is still on my WTB list.

As I will be essentially building my '56 Safari from the frame up, I'd like to add factory air. The car I have now did not include the option, so I need everything from the compressor and brackets to the condensor, receiver/dryer, to ductwork and controls.

[WTB: 1956 Pontiac 316 4bbl with Strato-Flight (dual coupling) transmission]

My '56 Safari came to me with what appears to be a '57 347 block, missing heads. The transmission is unknown as yet. I'm looking for a correct single 4bbl 316 with correct matching transmission. the engine should be complete, as I'm not yet sure of the intake I have (could be '57 and not '56).

 

I'm on Long Island, in New York, so shipping is a factor to consider. That having been said, that should be the least of the complications.

I picked up what I thought was a decent core for my '56 Pontiac safari on eBay, but failed to see clearly in the pictures that the mast was rather chewed. 😢

 

So, I'm on the prowl for another core.
