One of the things that I really liked with the new form software update was that the confirmation pop up window was gone when marking a forum read. I too was disappointed to see it show back up recently. I would really prefer if that setting could be changed back too.

I agree with you, this is undeniably good!

They should at least save the sculptures in the Facade.

Here in Toronto they would make them save the front wall of the building.

There is an old GE Plant from the 1950's that the front of the buildings is all that is basically left.

There is also a two storey brick building which is the old Reo Plant in Toronto they saved which I cannot post the picture.

The Toronto Preservation Board wants the city to designate the two-storey Reo Durant structure under the Ontario Heritage Act. But a proposal for a retirement residence featuring two buildings of seven and eight storeys and 284 units, has also been floated for the site and adjacent property at 146 Laird. If permitted, the buildings would mark the first large-scale residential development on the commercial-retail strip. A pre-hearing was scheduled last month at the OMB.

I agree, we could have saved it for more purposeful reason.

Only at Hershey! Recently my friend Jim Wellock of Akron,Ohio mentioned that his first Hershey was 1964 when he was around 16 years old. His family slept in their station wagon! Jim's dad was a co founder of the Akron Model T Ford Club. He mentioned he had 1964 photo slides of the Bill Harrah 1907 Thomas Flyer that went around the world from N.Y to Paris and won the race as the only American entry. He said he had a photo of it being shown at Hershey that year,  AND a photo slide of it pulling a brass era Rolls Royce also owned by Harrah with a tow rope! Both photos are attached. Look at all of the farm land around Hershey Stadium. Ah,those were the days! Sincerely George Albright,Ocala,Fla.  email  gnalbright@gmail.com  PS My first Hershey was 1972,when I was 16. Both Jim and I grew up to be like long car guys because of our Hershey experience. Thats why involving youth in our hobby is the key to its future!

I am a senior in high school and I would like some help. My grandpa owns a 1966 Cadillac DeVille Convertible. It was his since he bought it used in 1972. He didn't drive it very much and eventually, he parked it in 1978. About 20 years ago, he started restoring it, and took off some outside chrome, and some interior, but that was basically it, and it has been sitting there since. He doesn't want to get rid because there is a lot of history in the vehicle, but he will never do anything with it and it is just sitting there, taking up space. (The thing is like 20 feet long!) I really took interest in the vehicle, and I think I should restore it. That way, he will stay in touch with it, and I could get a car that I could take to college. The car's body is in very great shape and has very little rust, surprisingly. But it doesn't run. It probably would only need some engine work, some work on the brakes, and electrical. Practically nothing will need to be replaced in the interior, because it is in really good shape. So overall, this would be a very cheap project. I actually talked to my grandpa and he likes my idea. The only problem is, my dad wouldn't think it would be practical. He is worried about the cost, even though it would be pretty cheap. He doesn't think that I won't be able to do the work, because I currently drive a 1978 chevy Silverado, which we both restored together, and was in much worse shape. (I would just take that to college, but I have two younger siblings who need something to drive to school.) He is just worried about how the car will hold up, which I understand. Old cars are very unreliable, but I did some research and the reliability was okay in this car according to reviews. He is also concerned about the gas mileage, which is something like 11.5 miles per gallon, but that wasn't very much than the 1978 chevy, anyways. But I can pay for that myself. So can you guys help me convince my dad to let me restore this car?

Hope you could share some pics of it :)

After a lengthy search I stumbled upon a beautiful looking '37 Cadillac Series 70 Fleetwood Phaeton (I know,  it's a convertible sedan,  but Cadillac called it a Phaeton). It is a car that has been off the road at least 30 years but is a AACA Senior winner from about 1964. After talking at length with the family about the relative merits and demerits of the car, and agreeing that it would never be turned into a streetrod, I submitted a lowball offer which was accepted.

Upon learning about the car I have found some things were already on their way to streetrod status including a '48 engine (not uncommon in these cars), a dual battery setup and some rather strange hidden lighting.

The car needs the works mechanically.  Despite looking beautiful it needs a complete overhaul of the electrical system,  the cooling system,  fuel system and brake system.  I haven't ruled out issues with the exhaust and bearings either.

My order of operations will be make it stop, make it run, make it safe, make it drive, get it competent for travel make it pretty.

Attached are some photos of the car as I received it and where it is now

I  will post some updates as I go.

    Apologies to kaiser31

This is my second post , first deleted by mistake together with your post , starting again.

These are certainly dark and difficult times for many of us , probably reminiscent of our parents time during WW2

i am currently healthy , but find it hard to be cheerful , when I follow the situation that’s getting worse by the day .

consequently I have found looking at photos of happier times is good therapy , especially my car memories .

so I’m posting one , not the best of car but an hilarious , great day doing a rally with friends, 3rd in the American class ( there were only 3 taking part ) 😀
