I did set them cold. If I go .002 more would make it worse wouldn,t it.

I,m not having much luck adjusting the valve lifters on my 34 ply. It's almost impossible to do it with the engine running. I set them cold by the specs at .006 intake and .008 exhaust. There still quite noisy.can anyone give me some pointers on adjusting them.

Just recently got my 34 pe back together after being disassembled 45 years ago. My original intent was to make it new again but I gave up on that. Just put it back together and drive it. I put new exhaust valves in it. The book says to adjust them hot with the engine running. I don't see how it's possible with the valves behind the exhaust manifold. If I was to adjust them cold should the clearance be more or less than the spec?
