  1. There are a few comments above about cranking the engine with the ignition off until the oil pressure rises. 

    I agree, but I always remove the spark plugs first, this reduces the bearing loads and speeds up the pressure rise....

  2. I'm in the middle of welding up some rust patches on the scuttle of my 25-25, and I noticed 4 holes on the top which I don't think are original.

    Before I weld them up I wanted to check if anybody knows what they might be for.

    The car came from Sweden by the way, where I think a lot of Buicks were used for Taxis....

    Any ideas?

  3. I am rebuilding my 1925 Standard 6 engine and just fitted a new camshaft with the original timing gears.

    The backlash seems pretty high, I measured ~20 thou at the cam gear OD.

    I am inclined to accept this and keep building, because of the limited availabilty of new or good used gears (especially here in europe).

    Does anyone have any bad experiences with backlash this high
