Check the earth for the system. Is the non-working light actually earthed to the body? Corrosion is a poor conductor, as is most paint.

Thanks i will check that out.

  2. Hi

My right hand signal is not flashing on my 48 desoto S11.I know it  is not the bulbs as they have been checked, the left hand does flash but takes a second or two to react once the signal lever is pulled down.

Would this be down to the flasher unit on its way out or is there another explanation, they did both work when I first got the car last year but were a bit temperamental then.

I live in the UK and any advice would be much appreciated as you can imagine I dont yet know anybody else near me who has a 48 desoto.

    Many thanks

    Nick.

Try posting your question in the Desoto section of the Chrysler forums in stead of this general forum. Usually much better results when you have a question about a certain brand of car. Someone there will have an answer for you.

    I will do thanks .

what does your service manual say about clip retainers?  for my cars i have service manuals, overhaul manuals and special manual for such as A/C

Hi Gary, unfortunately my service manual does not say anything on removing trim.

  5. Hi

would anybody be able to tell me how you remove the stainless steel trim strips  that run along the doors on my 1948 desoto. Is there a tool you slide behind them to unclip, or do you have to get to them from inside the car by taking off the door cards.

    many thanks in advance

    Nick .

  6. What is wrong with the old ones? Unlike newer cars, your Buick came with very strong bolts that last the life of the car.

If you need replacements you should get proper head bolts from ARP, Buick or some other supplier that has the right kind. Ordinary hardware bolts are not the same.

It looks like somone replaced three original bolts with something different at one time in the cars past and we are a bit concerened about cranking them up again since stripping down.I will try ARP. Thanks. Nick .

Thanks Don , Seems not to be a problem with my ignition switch after all she has been starting fine today , looks like something to do with the connection from the start switch from the gas pedal to the starter motor . Have to do a bit of investigation i think . I have attached a few Pictures of "daisy" my 51 Super .post-91194-143141746129_thumb.jpg
