  1. I bought this vette trans to replace my old, tired Saginaw. It came with the hyd clutch, bell housing, & the vette shifter. The problems are: the trans mount is on the side ( I'll probably have to build a bracket for that ), and I need a source for a shifter I can use on this trans in my 79 El Camino. The speedo is electronic, also.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS?

  2. ESTAVER: I am having the same problem with my wiring (including one of the power window wires). Your troubleshooting info is being very helpful.

Both power window wires broken (now spliced) Main power wire (orange/black) broken, too. In the process of splicing all of the wires to the seat switch just so I don't have to do this again (at least on this side).

Your info was right on. Thanks Update: 6 out of 8 wires to the switch were broken or hanging by a single wire. This must be the reason they relocated the switch in "90". THANKS AGAIN!!!!

  3. I jusr did this with an 87 Cutlass Ciera with the 3.8. I just asked the parts guy if they had a belt for my car if not equipped with A/C. They had one. It works fine. It may work on the Reatta. It's at least worth a shot.

  4. I have also used the type that runs off the car battery. It works great on lug nuts! I put one of the kits in my wife's trunk in case she has a flat. I even used it one time to remove a bumper in a wrecking yard. It actually broke 3 of the bumper to frame bolts on a 63 Nova!!!! But not enough torque for high torque apps.

  5. I tried all the collector ins. companys, too. They all wanted your daily driver car/s to be newer than your collector car. Mine aren't new enough. I went with Safeco

and got a good discount for covering all my cars and the house, with my Reatta covered for 6K.

  6. The Reatta wheels I have seem to have a brushed finish on them. What I really wanted to know was if anyone has polished these kind, and how much of a pain was it? I do have other wheels that came polished and I'm not sure if they have a clear coat or not. They are a 3 spoke Weld wheel

16 X 8 that I have on my El Camino. Do they come with clear coat when new?

  7. I've tried all the major collector car insurers, including Grundy ( good quote ) BUT I keep having the same problem with all of them.... they want my daily driver cars to be newer than my Reatta. Mine are older and they will not insure me. Has anyone else run into this, and what did you do???
