Guest 5window
I found these headlights at an antique store for $15. The rims were originally chrome and there is a msall clear plastic(?) lens on the top labeled "Dietz". Any help in identifying them and in showing how they were originally wired to use the top lens, would be greatly appreciated. I have more photos, but can't figure out how to attach them. Thanks. Guest De Soto Frank
Most Deitz electric lights that I've seen were aftermarket headlights, usually on trucks of the 1930's that had their headlights up-dated to sealed-beams.Frequently these headlight shells had a little parking-light pod/lens on the outside of the bucket, usually placed opposite the mounting stud. Before the 1970's, most vehicle's parking lights did NOT stay on with the headlights.Other makers of similar lamps included Arrow, B-L-C, Guide...Can you post a pic of a side-view ? Guest De Soto Frank
I think these were probably "standard" aftermarket headlights, intended to update pre-1939 cars and trucks to sealed-beam headlights. They look like they were built to use the standard 7" six-volt sealed-beam lamp ( still available).
