Then started it up to dry it off. i noticed the guage wasn't working any more. how and what do I test to see if the generator is still working. Obviously, I'm not a mechanic. Guest Posted July 9, 2002 Share Posted July 9, 2002 Is it the gauge or the generator?<P>If the gauge is out completely typically the car won't start - the wiring harness is routed through there.<P>Check for loose wires on generator.
