Got tired of oxidized clear coat, and I'm not going to be painting til 2016, so I decided to try some 1000 grit paper I had from wet sanding my flat black hood to make even tone. Here's the results so far:

I need to keep sanding and polishing, but I was surprised at the results here. If I had the energy and time, I could probably wet sand and reclear the entire car(minus the rockers ahead of the rear tires) to save the factory paint.
