Guest 36chev
What is the application of this Ford thermostat? It has 7HA-8575-B3 and 7-48 stamped into the housing. It is apparently a 148-153 degree thermostat (also stamped in the housing). The Ford logo is also stamped, so it must be a NOS genuine Ford part. Thanks again for any help. Guest Commodore
If you go to this Ebay listing and look at the first photo you can see the apps for this thermostat on the paper the thermostat is resting on. The "A" in the part number is for a 160 degree thermostat.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-FORD-FoMoCo-157-162-WATER-THERMOSTAT-B7A-8575-A-NOS-In-Box-/291063324586?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43c4b9dfaa
Guest 36chev
Commodore, thanks for locating that auction! It has the same part number, but it looks a little different. Perhaps made in different years and the appearance but not functionality changed over time. In examining the first photo, it looks like the lister may not have unfolded the paper enough to include this specific part number. The paper looks like some of the application listings I have found supplied with other parts--it includes a lot of different part numbers and applications in addition to the part actually in the box. Guest 36chev
I think I may have found it--here is a page from Dennis Carpenter that says it's a 1956-1964 Ford thermostat. http://www.parts123.com/index/google/0000024x/moreinfo-0000024x-ABQWL-B7A-8575-A.htmSorry for pestering everyone--should have found this in the first place. medsteve
This thermostat is from a '48-'51 Flathead V8 337ci engine. I just pulled my thermostats to change them out and they are the same as you have. This engine is from my 1950 Ford F7. It started life as a firetruck.
