Guest imported_washburn
Looked at a 26 or 27 Chrysler today, but could not figure out how to tell which model it is. The owner thinks it is an Imperial. It is a two door with a back seat, wooden wheels, two tone (blue body black fenders and top), pull down shades in the rear seats and rear window, cigarette lighter has a cord so you can pass it around front to back seat. This one has the concave channels sculpted into each side of the nickel-plated radiator suround. This sculpting continues back into the top of each hood side in a graceful "V's", disappearing just behind the cowl. This leads us to believe that this is a E-80 Imperial, but we are not sure. The body is by Fisher. The ID plate on the front fire wall lists the following:Job # 7340; Body #347. The number on top of the head is 55001.Where would one look to find the engine number?John Washburn & Tom Frohardt of Colorado
Guest imported_Bill-W
The engine number should be stamped on the front left side of the block, just above the water jacket cover on on a boss, top of timing chain case. The serial number should be stamped on a plate attached to the instrument panel. Being a 1926 ot 1927 model, it should be a FEDCO plate with two letters followed by two numbers then one letter. The "fluting" on the hood shows it to be a 1927 to 1930 Imperial. The fluted hood was also a trademark of Packard and Vauxhall for many years. Buick and Willys-Knight also used that theme in the early to mid 1920's.By the way, the serial number was also stamped of the left frame side member at the rear spring horn.BillVancouver, BC
