1950 gyro-matic trans, 1950 coronet

my transmission refuses to upshift.i've found some info on line and it seem's that the pilot valve is missing from under the solenoid.i have another transmission that came with the car but it looks the same. under the solenoid is awasher holding back a ball bearing that sit's on a spring, thats all i can remove. i can feel the 2 ports on either side of the hole but nothing is there to open or close them.is it just my luck that both would be missing the same part.any help would be greatly appriciated
