Starmaple
Any convertible top experts around? I need assistance for my 1953 New Yorker Deluxe convertible. Does anyone have a picture with the convertible top UP for this year or similar year? My trim guy has questions about how the top is attached in the rear quarters. Your reponses are greatly appreciated.Glen Mitchell
Guest John. Baker
Hi,I don't know if this will help, but here goes. My 56 chrysler has the tack strips [ 5 pcs ] around the back/sides , secured to the body, tack strip facing the passenger compartment. Top is secured with tacks. this is all covered with metal strips that are screwed through the tack strip into the body, sandwiching the top material, between the metal strip and the tack strip. this metal strip is bent over at the top in a "u" shape, so when the top is down, folded into the well area, there are no sharp edges to tear the fabric.I haven't seen a 53, but maybe they are similar.
