Guest
My rope seal is leaking on my Buick 350.
I know that 2-piece rubber seals are available.
Question: Can these rope seals be replaced
w/ the rubber ones whlie the crankshaft remains in the block? Guest
I've never tried it, but the buick 350 is very similar in design to the 231 (3.8) Buick so you may want to ask at http://www.turbobuick.com
(Go to the lounge and post the question as the tech area is for turbo buicks only).
[This message has been edited by wsc00743 (edited 06-27-2000).]
Guest
I see you're not getting many responses over there either. I think what you want to do can be done, in fact I think some auto parts stores carry a tool to do it. Good Luck.

pwm72
Yes, it can be done...I've just done it about 2 months ago. I had to loosen up the bearing caps just enough to free up the crank. The new seals slide right in. As John mentions, go to www.buickperformance.com...they helped me through this and many other projects so far.
Best buch of Buick nuts around!
pwm72@hotmail.com
