  1. Hi Ozstatman, I'll take a look next time I go through that area. There was a forest fire that swept through there more than 50 years ago that probably melted the aluminum. I think the car was upside down prior to that.
  2. Hi Ozstatman, I've gotten some great responses and a lot of good information. It's looking more like the car is a '35, as you said. Thanks for sharing.
  3. Hi gwells, Thanks for those very clear pictures. Helps a lot. The next time I pass by the car, I'll look a little more closely. The curve of the fender/hood area on the '35-36 gives me a clue, too. Not that I need a project, but maybe I'll try to find out who owns the land and see about extricating the car from its resting place. Thanks for your help.
  4. Further clicking around the internet I came across a picture of a Packard Light Eight that has many features of the wreck I saw (bumper, fender beading, etc..)
  5. Hi nzcarnerd, This car has covered springs front and rear plus very heavy spring hangers, etc. Looked like twelve leaves per spring. Also, didn't have a tape measure on my hike at Tahoe, but looked to be about a 10-foot wheelbase. Thanks.
  6. Hi Keiser31, If that's your car, you're doing/did a fantastic job on it. Do you have any other pictures (engine, front-end, steering wheel?) Thanks,
  7. The rear axle sure looks the same. The wreck I looked at had much heavier frame components so I think it might be an earlier year. Thank you for the response.
  8. I thought it might be a Packard, but have no info on their rear axles. Thanks for your fast response.
  9. This car is upside down in the forest; area burned 50 years ago. Has straight 8 engine with nine mains and cast aluminum lower end, mechanical brakes, weird rear end, full running boards with spare tire well on each front fender. Anybody have clues?
