Randy Berger 1
Although I have dealt with this ebay vendor several times and he is a very honest person, I question whether this is a 374 cu inch engine. Did someone paint it the turquoise themselves? Factory error?? I initially looked at it to see the position of the generator adjusting arm - the slot is on the water manifold bolt as it should be. Has anyone else ever seen a turquoise 374?? Note that firewall is same color. Perhaps the engine compartment including engine was painted??http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1956-Pack...120998015QQrdZ1
Randy_G 0
From the color of various pieces of the engine IE: generator arm. I think it fair to say that in the last 50 years or so this engine has been repainted, so It would be best go by the serial numbers stamped or cast on the block to determine the date of casting. Just my two cents.
Packard8 0
I agree with RandyG and Brian...someone did a "custom" paint job on the engine, most likely while still in the car.The correct S/N on the block would make me pretty confident that it is indeed a 1956 374. Not a bad deal IMHO for the whole rolling chassis at the "buy It Now" price (if you have a place to put it). Lots of good parts there! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
mrpushbutton 21
BH--there is no such thing as "overspray". The correct technical term is "undermask".
