kay2557 Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Hi! I'm a new user so please bare with me. I have a 2000 Reatta covertable. while driving engine will turn off with no symptoms. I stop and restart, starts right up, then other times upon starting and putting into gear seems to surge and then die. When I restart and floor the gas peddle, she then runs ok. Can you help me solve this? Replaced and serviced fuel injector, could it be fuel pump? or some sensor? Thanks
GMPARTSMAN Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Not sure, but it sounds like a Crankshaft Position Sensor failure. Further diagnosis with a computer scan should be done before replacing it though. I had a Crank Sensor fail on a '92 Bonneville that didn't show a trouble code on the computer though. The Sensor only failed when the engine was at normal operating temperature. The only way we found this was failing was that on crank/restart the Tachometer did not show any needle movement while cranking, but after about thirty seconds the needle jumped, and the car started. Replaced Sensor, problem (at least in this case) solved.
