Guest mongeonman Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 I think the antenna as a relay attached to it,could it be the problem?
Guest Durahansolo Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 I bought one of the Metra universal antennas from Autozone awhile back. It works pretty good, I didnt get to use it very much because my aftermarket radio only had one remote wire on it and i was too lazy to install a second.
padgett Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 I unplugged my antenna a long time ago and just leave about 6" up. Got tired of it going up and down every time the key was turned on or off.
Barney Eaton Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 If you are interested in repairing your Reatta antenna, go to www.reatta.net and find the repair instructions.
DAVES89 Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 I bought the power antenna and was very disatisfied. I had a problem with the ends and I found the wiring confusing and had to call my mechanic friend to help me. Try to rebuild yours like Barney advises if possible.
Guest Ranger Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 I bought a power antenna from "antenna_x". One of the partswere faulty, bought the right part from Best Buy. Sent 6 emailsto antenna_x who advertised that they man the computer 7 days a week.Never did get an answer, left them a negative, received a negativesaying I was too cheap to send it back, couldn't send it back becauseI didn't have an address. I'd stay away from them, very cheap Chineseproduct. Got a good one from Jim Finn and referred a friend to Barney, we're both happy. BTW, "antenna_x" was/is on eBay.
Guest Kitskaboodle Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 The previous owner of my car had bought one from Ebay and boy can you tell the difference. I'm no power antenna expert but evenI can tell when a power antenna is cheaply made. I have a theory that the money you pay for them directly correlates to how much noise they make. Mine sounds like an old Hamilton mixer on it's last leg. Funny, I cant wait for it to break...so that I have anexcuse to go and get a quality one, like a Harada. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />Kit / 90 Coupe /86 Fiero GT
