Colin Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Is it worth upgrading from the 90amp alternator to the 120amp. I have a 1991 V6.I may have to replace the one I have if it can't be repaired.
Guest StudeDude 01 Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Colin---sorry to hear of your problem with the broken alternator terminal. The 90 amp unit will work fine--there is no real need to upgrade unless the dollars are nearly identical. I have a 120 amp Bosch unit in my '92 LeBaron and it has performed flawlessly; the replacement 90 amp Nippondenso unit in my '90 TC also has done well. If you are performing this work yourself, I would make sure that either unit has the correct pulley attached.
Chryslerati Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 That's what I ran into, the 120 has a different pulley. It will work if you want to go to all the trouble.I just used the 90 and it seems to be fine.
