page2171 Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 I'm on a trip for work right now...if you haven't gotten any help when I get home I will take a pic of the trunk of my 62 Electra (should be similar enough) and post it here.
Guest dipnic10 Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 That sounds good to me. Enjoy your trip. Thanks Lou
Pete Phillips Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 The spare tire sits on the shelf above the gas tank & rear axle. The jack's base goes upside down into the center of the tire, and the J-shaped screw & hold-down go through the center of the tire and through the jack's base. The jack itself is stowed above the right rear wheel well (one end of the jack), while the other end goes down in the very right rear bottom corner of the trunk. There should be a thin, U-shaped holder to accept the jack's shaft at each end. Then, a 5-6 inch long spring attaches to a hook in the trunk floor, and to an odd-shaped black hold-down (looks like a double "J"). This hold-down is attached to the center of the jack, and the spring gives it enough tension to keep it in place. Sorry, but I don't have a '62 or '62 to photograph this.Pete Phillips, BCA #7338
imported_buick5563 Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 The spring is what I was missing on my 63, which really confused me. I'm easily confused though.Mike
