I have an 88 Reatta and there is no paint code to be found. Were all Reattas the same Bright Red? I went to get some spray touch-up and Auto Zone looked up the paint for the car and found three different Bright Reds?? Help! Also what is the normal operating temp for the 3800 Reatta. Mine gets up to 217* F. Is that too hot? I was looking at the water inlet (thermostat) housing and I see only one bolt; am I seeing it correctly?

Tks. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> [color:"blue"]

Go down in the spare tire compartment and on the passenger side lift up the insulation and you will see the service parts label. On the bottom is the color code. Yes all red Reattas were the same color red.

The normal temp is 195. If you are running hotter you should change your thermostat. There is one bolt that holds it in place.

Make sure your fans are also running when it gets warm.

I can see the different views coming on thermostats and resetting proms already <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Most guys go to a 185 thermostat. They all check to make sure both fans run. A couple of guys have sent their proms off to get the fans reset to lower turn on settings. The thermostat housing is held in by 1 bolt. My housing was corroded in place. [i had to break it to get it out. This was done while replacing intake manifold gasket]. I flushed my system, put in a 195 thermostat[stock],replaced water pump[mine was leaking], checked to make sure my fans run. This my first summer with mine, but I live in Wi. and think I will be O.K. So far my car has topped out at 203.

Sorry I can't help you on the color as I have an '89.

Yes Jim the manual says the paint code is on the spare tire cover but mine is missing, so I was hoping someone could give me the correct code.

Thanks,

Mike

The label is not on the cover. It is on the side of the spare tire well, near the top. As Jim said, you will have to lift up the insulation/carpeting to see it.

The bright red used on all Reattas is code 81 for the small spray cans

If you go to a paint store to buy bulk for spraying, it is PPG#8774
