Wood wheel hub

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for info on how to disassemble the rear hub of a wood spoke wheel. I need to remove the rear brake drum for repair. I have removed all bolts and spokes. My question is, does the inner hub press out of the outer hub? Or is there something else I should be looking at? Thanks, Gene.

Gene; usually the brake drum is held in place by bolts that run through the hub and then through the brake drum. The nuts are on the inside surface of the brake drum. Remove these nuts , tap the bolts out and the drum should be able to be worked off the body of the hub. I've worked on several cars that were set up this way; i.e. Buick, Ford, Marmon, to name a few. This is covered in Dyke's if you have a copy. Regards; oldiron
