Guest 31Pierce43
Hi David,Both lubrication charts that I have for Pierce recommend SAE 30 Motor oil. You probably also know that unless your fan assembly has been modified with modern seals, it is not sealed very well. If you overfill the reservoir, it will leak where the shaft exits the housing. Or...if you park with the car pointed uphill, it will also leak out the shaft opening and drip down the front of the engine. To properly fill it, and this is from the owner's manual, rotate the fan until the fill plug is at the top. Remove the fill plug. Add the oil, a Service Bulletin that I read says that it holds about 1.5 ounces of oil. Then rotate the fan so that the filler is at the bottom (still with the plug out) to let the excess oil run out. Then rotate the filler hole back to the top and re-install the fill plug. Oil occupies approximately 1/3 of the volume of the housing. This instruction came from the owner's manual and has been repeated in multiple PAS publications if you would like to further research it.Happy Motoring,31Pierce43
