Hi Mark

Regret that website won't accept messages from overseas and does not seem to go back beyond the early sixties.

Thanks for your response

Most modern spark plugs are a little longer than the old ones and when you put the side cover on your engine the plugs will short out. I found that Autolite #3076 are shorter than the others. The 3076 are tractor plugs. I use them on my 22 Buick and my 14 Buick. The bases are blued when you get them so you don't have to hide the cad plating.

Give me the make and part number of what is currently in it and I will check it for you.

I run Autolite 3077 in both of my older Buicks.

14mm thread, 19mm(3/4") reach, 13/16" hex, extra projected tip, .044" gap

They are the right thread, length, and are a hot plug that does not foul.

You might try a John Deere tractor store where they stock Champion plugs for old tractors.

As Mark states you failed to state the description of the car whether it is an American car and it?s exact name and do you have the original type of sparkplug. What you need to find out is just what brand it had in it from the factory and its reach and thread diameter. Whether it was 7/8? x 18 threads per inch pitch or 18 millimeters x 1.5 millimeters pitch.

I don?t believe that very many cars made in the U.S.A. had 14mm by 3/8 reach spark plugs in 1923.

Also of high importance is the thread reach which is the distance from the end of the spark plug on the threaded end to the washer face without the washer attached!

This list does not fo back to 1923 but someone at the Pre-World War 2 posting area probably knows if this works!

I posted this in the Buick area quite some time ago.

Because a sparkplug number is listed on this sheet does not necessarily mean it is easily available from the various AC, Autolite or Champion dealers. At the rate that these plugs are being removed from manufacturer?s charts many sparkplugs will no longer be available, from any dealer shelves in even the near future. This seems to be particularly true of AC.

3076=7/8-18 thd, 5/8" reach, 15/16" hex, gasket seat, heavy duty center electrode

3077= 7/8-18 thd, 5/8" reach, 15/16" hex, gasket seat, heavy duty center electrode

Edit May 23-2007 I have finally found the AutoLite "Catalog" at

http://www.noelsautoparts.com.au/Autolite%20Catalogue%20NCAP.pdf

It seems very pecuuliar that this two plugs above are the only Autolite plugs of 7/8"-18 x 5/8 reach listed. No other of any reach are listed??? I am going to see if I can find any AC or Champion.
