Dandy Dave
I just went though getting stuff together for a pair of 1915 plates. I called and the numbers are good. The NYS-DMV states on the mail in form that the the plates must be readable and original. NOT RESTORED! Not sure how well they stick to it though??? I was told by a friend to get the plates though first and then restore them after if you want. Dave!
Dandy Dave
Paul, I have never seen any plates for The NY World Fair in 38 as it was the 1939 Worlds Fair. I've only ever seen 39 and 40. Dave!

Pontiac59
I buy a nice set of plates at a swap meet. For all I know someone restored them in 1984 - I'm sure the folks at DMV only compare to photos, if even that. I have a couple of '38 plates here somewhere and seems as though they do read World's Fair on them, but it's been a long time since I looked at them too.
