Guest Posted December 19, 2001 Share Posted December 19, 2001 Hi,
I'm parking my 91 Reatta coupe but am curious as to whether or not I can (and/or should) put the 16 inch rims on my 90 Reatta convertible??
Any thoughts and advise will be greatly appreciated!
Pat Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Rattaboy Posted December 19, 2001 Share Posted December 19, 2001 Do it. Expect no problems whatsoever. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest EDBS0 Posted December 20, 2001 Share Posted December 20, 2001 Patti;
You can use this program to compare rolling diameters.
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
Just because I could, I ran my 16" Riviera rims on the Reatta without any problems. I second it ... Just do it. Robert Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest Posted December 21, 2001 Share Posted December 21, 2001 Just curious, what did you have to do to calibrate your speedometer / odometer after switching wheel? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
padgett Posted December 21, 2001 Share Posted December 21, 2001 Didn't bother. Went from 215x65x15 (812 revs per mile) to 225x60x16 (790 revs per mile). This means when it reads 60 mph am now going 61.5. 215x60x16 is same diameter as 215x65x15. No change required. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest EDBS0 Posted December 21, 2001 Share Posted December 21, 2001 Using the tire calculator above you will get an answer such as speedometer will read over 1.3% or under 2.1345% etc. and you then make a mental calculation that you are traveling slightly faster or slower than the speedometer indicated.
Personally I calibrate my speedometers off of the GPS signals on my lap top so I know exactly how accurate my speedometer is. Reatta reads some 1.2 miles per hour slow at 75 mph with stock rims and tires.
Just some ideas. Robert Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
padgett Posted December 21, 2001 Share Posted December 21, 2001 I have a Delorme. Before Clinton recinded the offset it was fun watching the arrow doing 70 mph 100 feet off the Interstate. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest Posted December 21, 2001 Share Posted December 21, 2001 Just to let you all know, I went ahead and swapped the rims and the 91's look great on my 1990 convertible!
Thanks again,
Pat Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest Posted December 22, 2001 Share Posted December 22, 2001 The Delorme and the Skymac will double their performance if you chop their cotterkeys. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
