R W Burgess
Yes, some have "it" really bad. The photo below was posted by James Bacon in the Photo Gallery. When my wife saw this 1909 Sears Buggy setting in the living room (not mine thankfully), she said that would be grounds for divorce. I wonder where "this" wife was while the tinkering was going on. Psst, A real wife would be in there helping her husband work on this car.
West Peterson
It doesn't look like it needs any work to me. Me thinks one more remote is needed, though.
Guest leadfoot
Looks like the car is in a basement rec room, not the living room. None the less, I don't see the problem here so I must have "it" bad also. The Sears provides an extra small sofa seat to watch the tube, plus it is an interesting decorator's touch! Pontiac59
Where else would you keep a treasured antique? It's no different than having a grand piano or a 100 year old dining room table in the room - except you may need a mat or pan under the motor in case of leaks. Matt Harwood
The dream house I've designed for our future construction includes a medium-sized room just off the main living room. That area features a set of very wide opening patio doors and a hard surface floor area (tile or slate or something) the size of a large automobile. My wife thinks it's some kind of garden room, and I'm not telling her any differently...
Guest leadsled1953
i think it looks fine in the house.i'm sure those people at HGTV would have heart attack but they have no idea what looks right anyway.when my wife and i were first going out she found car parts in my fridge so i guess i'm not the person to ask about this
kuhner
Ran into one just about like this, this past Friday.I just bought an air compressor off of Craiglist, located in a sort of bad side of Columbus. After I loaded it I asked the "lady" if she had anything else for sale, she said she did, and it was in the living room. It was a 2004 H-D Roadking. She told me it was her husbands and he is gone now. I said I was sorry and asked if he passed or they were seperated, said no he violated his parole. DavidP
Is the photograher standing with his back against the garage doors or are they open for more light ?It sure puts my garage to shame ... I hope a couple of gallons of paint and a little carpeting will fix it up ... If I had that car, I'd be sure to fix up my garage as well !!! During the holidays they pull the car out and use this room for parties and gatherings.FYI, if you do ever build a house with such a room be sure you are VERY CAREFUL what you tell the local building codes people. In some areas it can be a violation of building/fire codes or lawsto store a car in room of a house that is not a garage.
Restorer32
I have a customer with just such a room off his living room. Large French doors on one end. Keeps his '21 Rolls Royce Ghost in it. Those of you in the Philly area may know him.
Guest James Bacon
I am realy enjoying this . . . This is the family room, on the other end are the Oldsmobiles. The living room has the Speedster and Touring in it. OH the garage . . . did someone mention the garage. It has the three Paige's in it. Now lets go out in the backyard where I keep two 30 foot cargo trailer and their you will find rest of the car which I am using for weekend shows this summer. Hay another thing I just thought of is that I have not seen the wife around for about 10 years of so, you know now that I think about it that was what all of the legal espenses were used for. Guest imported_DaveZZZ
My wife isn't "in to" cars, though I did make it crystal clear when we were dating that to take me was to take my obsession. She does enjoy going for rides with me.But I discovered the secret. After she told me that she really liked the old British two-seaters we had seen at shows, and after I decided that I didn't have time for another project, I bought her a 2005 Mazdaspeed Miata. It's actually more enjoyable than I had expected, but the important thing is that she's now "part of the club" and it makes her much more understanding of my obsession. Twitch
Many years ago you could buy a coffee table that had a base made from a used up formula car crushed into a cube with a glass top but this is a bit more imposing!
