rrs814 Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Trunk switch seems bad....but...it's a Reatta, so I thought I'd inquire before blowing the dust off the FSM and all. It's been months since I took her out, and as long since I've been here! Thanks for any help.
Barney Eaton Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Trunk switch seems bad..........You can give us more information than that.It doesn't work at all?It doesn't work with the remote? It doesn't work from the glove box?It doesn't work with the key? What have you checked?
rrs814 Posted April 6, 2007 Author Posted April 6, 2007 Remote long gone, nothing with glove box button or the trunk key. The keyhole has been intermittent since I got the car, but more often than not was OK. But from this I might conclude it's the latch (?). I looked in the fuse box, but saw no specific fuse. So....wuduyathink Barney? -I gotta find my manual!! THANKS!
Barney Eaton Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 With a battery charger, you can jump the wires at the solenoid to verify that it is or is not working. There is a relay on the right rear fender well that could also be bad.The keylock can fail from moisture, since it is actually an electrical switch on the end of the lock, it can be replaced.Fuses... the main power comes from circuit breaker #23The glove box button gets 12V from fuse #17, but if the fuel door is working that fuse is ok.The keylock fuse is #2
TheBlackMoon Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Also (at least on the '90-91), when you hit the glove box button for the trunk, you should hear a very prominent "click" from the trunk area (relay or solenoid?? Barney???), even if the lock itself doesn't work. Mine was disconnected (my fault) once and that "click" could still be heard from a mile away.
rrs814 Posted April 9, 2007 Author Posted April 9, 2007 The click is gone. I'll look into these things. THANKS!
Guest alex_houston Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 I recently had one that would not operate. Everything checked out good and the trunk lock worked good on the bench. I finally had to run a ground wire from a mounting bolt on the trunk switch to a trunk hing bolt mounted to the body of the car. Now everything works great. I still haven't a clue why this worked!
