What year engine do you need?

The 1934-35 Dictator had a different engine than the 1936-37.

The 1934 -35 engine was basically the same as the 1932-33 Rockne.65 and 10.

This engine was designed by two independent engineers Cole and Vail for Willys.

When Willys ran out of money Cole/Vail showed the engine to Erskine at Studebaker.

Studebaker used it for its 65 Series Rockne and all 1933 Rockne's.

The used the engine in 1934-35 for the Dictator series.

The block had cracking problems because of poor water circulation.

There was one spot on the cylinder side wall that seems to always crack.

In 1936 Studebaker redesigned to water passages in the block and added

a water distribution tube behind the water pump.

When you look at the 1932-35 engine you can see the outline of the cylinders

on the drivers side of the block(LHD) on the 1936-later engines the side of the block is flat.

Many of the earlier cars have been retrofitted with the 1936-up engines which were made

available cheap. It was a bolt in swap.

I just bought a load of 1936-40 parts and have many items such as engines available.

I will try to post pictures on my (not started but soon) website.

Email me at studebaker@mac.com if you need something soon.

I am old and slow.
