Phil Wimbish Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Hello to all!I was wondering what the aproximate value would be for a Columbia 2-spd rear from a '38 Zephyr. It is from a long time sitting car in a dry climate. Complete though.Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in Advance!Phil Wimbish
zman Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 I would say 2,000 would be a fair price, providing all thecontrols are incuded and it's acomplete rear axle assemblyZ man
Mike Cullen Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 No, it's junk..... where do you live? I'll run right over and haul that scrap away for you. In fact I feel so bad for you that I'll give you a couple hundred so you can hit a junkyard and get one that isn't so problematical! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />$2K sounds about right to me too, if the control is there and even better if the speedo cable is there. If it's just a core, no controls and unknown condition, maybe a little less. I've been sort of watching for one for my '36 to make it run at 65-70 without winding up so high. (I know the engine is OK and can take it, but it is 70+ years old, I'd rather baby it and keep it going as long as possible, maybe kids or grandkids will end up with it) I'm just too cheap and lazy to go ahead and get one and change it out. Somebody will snap it up quickly if you advertise it.
CBoz Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Just out of curiosity, is it the factory system with the *loooong* speedo cable that goes to the back axle, or is it the dealer-installed version which uses the speedo adaptor mounted on the firewall? My understanding is that the factory setups are harder to come by, but either it's a nice find.
