Guest walterp Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Can anyone give me a lead as to where I can find a reproduction of the muffler for a 1938 Buick Special. The muffler on my car had the number GM#1305155 stamped on it. In addition what tire Manufacturer did Buick originally use in 1938? Thank you for your help
Guest Tishabet Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Hi Walterp, you can get a new muffler for your Special from Kanter auto products (Kanter.com).I'm not sure off the top of my head what is OEM for tires, but one of the best resources I know of for antique car tires is Coker tire (cokertire.com). They have a large selection and in my experience are extremely helpful on the phone. They definitely stock tires for a 1938 Special... guess how I know <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />What model is your Special?Hope that helps!-grant
Guest DaveCorbin Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Dear Walterp: Exhaust pipes and mufflers from Burton Waldron in Michigan, tires from Wallace Wade in Dallas. Both have been in the Buick hobby for years and ship all over the world. Tire brand should be Goodyear or Goodrich, as Buick used them as suppliers. They did not use Firestone because Firestone was considered to be a Ford supplier.Regards, Dave Corbin
Guest walterp Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 DaveDo you have a contact# for Wallace Dade in Dallas? I have talked to Waldron about the mufflers. Do you have a formula for the correct original interior paint color for the 1938 Buick that goes on the steering column, shift lever and emergency brake handle.Thank you for your helpWalter
Guest DaveCorbin Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Dear Walterp: It's Wallace Wade Specialty Tires, 530 Regal Row, Dallas, TX. 75247. Phone number is 214-688-0091.I don't know what that color is called, but it's a reddish brown, almost mahogany color. Tell Wallace I recommnded him, as he's a BCA member. Regars, Dave Corbin
Dave Mitchell Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 For exhaust I prefer Park's Pipes in Ohio. They have done a number of systems for me and they all fit perfectly when you get them, are to original specs and sound right. Also they are nice people to deal with.
