Thanks for your reply post. I am new to the AACA format (not yet a member) so am trying to educate myself on the functions and workings of such. What exactly do they do at a Divisional tour (this year 1983-newer)? When cars are shown for judging what day(s) of the meets does this occur? Thanks more questions will be forthcoming. Divisional tour are usally 3 or 4 days. The host region will setup the tour with places for you to visit. The tours are basicaly self-paced, setup to ave about 45 mph, and to have fun.

The national meets have judging school on Fri. afternoon (Suggest you attend one, even if you don't get invovled in the judging part of AACA, you'll at least get an understnading of what the judges are doing and looking for.) The show is on Saturday, the cars are to be on the show field by 11AM execpt Hershey which is 10AM do to the number of cars that need to be judged. The host regions typically have some eventsand/or tours you can attend. As a member of AACA you get the Antique Automobile magazine. In the plastic sleeve, is a paper with your address. If you turn it over there is a card to fill out and send into headquarters to recieve infrom ation on the meets and tours listed on that form. When the info is offically released, it will be mailed to you. At that time you can decide what you would like to particapate in and sign up either by mail or you can do it online, in which you will need the pin number and you membership number, located on that same mailing label.

Novaman; Thanks for information. So the Divisional Tour is just a fun touring event with your car and seeing the sites then? There isn't a central place to spend a day first to have cars judged or anything? Thanks Jo BO

At the tours, there is no judging, it is mainly about the touring and site seeing. Now understand that because of the nature of our hobby and the desire to have "special" places to visit. On some of these tours you'll get to visit places that the general public will never get to see. Things like large private car collections, manufacturers that don't give tours, etc.

Seriously, if you have a car that you don't mind touring with, I would highly recommend going on one of these tours. There is a lot of socializing that goes on out on the hotel parking lot and each of the stops along the way.

My first tour was the 2001 Founders Tour in upstate NY. I grew up in the GVACS club. 2001 was the first time since the fall of 1987 I was back to NY state. I made some new friends on the tour, had fun harassing one guy with a Ford LTD. (every time I turned around, I'd see him catching up to me. Then He'd disapper. My comment to him was "that Ford can catch the Chevrolets but just can't get around them <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />" Later on the trip the jet fell out of the carb on dad's car. One of my new friends gave me a hand and we fixed the carb in the parking lot. OF course... who finds out about this... "MR. LTD" <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> needless to say, he had a few wise remarks. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> The ribbing was all in fun with huge smiles on our faces.) I would have loved to go tour the tour this year up in Vermont (Founders Tour I believe). I'd like to vist places like Ben & Jerrys ice cream, Vermont Teddy Bear Company, and several of the other place they are going. But I'm planning on heading to NY for the national meeet in Binghamton and just can't do the 2 long distance trips, plus the week for Hershey in the fall. So had to sit the tour out.

Again, don't be afraid to giving touring a try. You just might find you'll like it! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
