TWO BRAKE QUESTIONS

The first is what is the black plastic tank below the ABS unit. Is it the vacumn reservoir?

and: fellow member called this PM and said he had the two light brake problem 5 times today. He said he has done the brake test and all was OK. Today, he said that if he raps around the pump, it will start and go off on pressure but the lights will come back on after a couple of brake applications. He cleaned the terminals as we talked but the problem persists.

Any answers?

You only have one brake question and one cruise control question. <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Yes, the black tank is a vacuum reservoir to maintain an even supply of vacuum for the cruise servo.

It sounds like his pressure switch is bad which is pretty common. Have him remove the connector and look inside for any seepage of fluid next to the pins. If there is any, the switch is bad. I do have some good ones.

I just went on the reatta site as my service manual does not have the section 5 on breaks and you are correct, it is the pressure switch. I did not see any leakage but when I tap on it the pump will work, it then stops and I tape again and again until it reaches the correct pressure. I do need one Jim as this may not be an item I can get here anywhere. Let me know and I will send you the money. Mike
