dude said he was doing 80 miles per hour on the interstate and his drum brakes didn't work well enough.

(I can lock mine at any speed)

80 in the fast lane, with a '55? Wth? Sometimes, doing something because you can, is not the best policy. I wonder how many car lengths he maintained from the truck he hit?

Interesting.  55 Century 2dr sedan with spotlight; was this one of the few police cars?  Displaced and deformed steering wheel (ouch!).  Wonder what all the debris is inside?

While the background car is a '56 Buick, and may, or may not be involved in the collision,

Closer exam makes me believe the wrecked car in the foreground is a 1957 Pontiac Chieftain

Look at the script on the front fender,

as well as the grille:
