JohnD1956 Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 While there are several old car price guides available, the car value may be difficult to pinpoint. In general, Convertibles are worth the most, while 2 door cars are generally more desired than 4 door cars. Some cars are considered very rare if they were not made in large quantities and then the body style above may not apply at all. Meanwhile, everything depends on the condition underneath the car. Many look great on the top and are slowly rusting away underneath. Of course the best thing to do is check the guides available and then determine at what price you'd be willing to let the car go. At that point you can advertise here or in several other online venues. The only way to truly determine a cars worth is to put it in an auction , where people are free to buy what they want, and you are free to sell at your price. Otherwise if you put it up for sale and someone buys it the next day, you let it go too cheap, and if no one buys it for two months you are asking too much. When your price equals someone's willingness and ability to pay then you will know what the car is worth. If you really want to sell, then don't second guess this final price. That being said, one more consideration is the cars sentimental value to you. If you care about the car and don't want it wrecked, or customized, then a forum such as this one is a good place to post the vehicle. Many people here appreciate an original car and if it is truly in great shape, will endeavor to keep it that way. Even if you don't really care what happens to the car, you can still post it here and there are several other sites which can be recommended for better exposure.Good luckJohn D
