Tom Laferriere Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Attached is a photo of the mirror that is on my Father's 1960 Impala. It is not the correct one. He wants to put a matching mirror on the passenger side, but needs to know exactly what is on the drivers side. Any help is appreciated. Thanks,Tom Laferriere
Dave@Moon Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Tom, I'm pretty sure that's an aftermarket Roberk mirror. If not then it's very similar to one they sold. I remember that little forward fin particularly. The factory mirror for 1960 Chevys is widely reproduced and quite reasonable to buy. I have a 1960 Buick, which is the same mirror with "BUICK' instead of a bowtie on it, and I bought a gasket from Lutty's Chevrolet Parts for it. (Nobody else sold the gasket separately.) As I recall a complete miror kit (for one side) was something like $35-$40 then. You should see what good copies of the (non-reproduced) Buick mirror cost! <img src="http://forums.aaca.org/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />
jimkf Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I'd be willing to bet that if you took the mirror off the car and flipped it over, next to a casting number will be the Ford logo. My 54 Kaiser had one of these mirrors mounted on it when I bought it. Knowing it was incorrect, I removed it and when I looked it over, I found that it was made for Ford. I'm not sure what year Fords used it...probably late 50s or early 60s as the guy I got the car from said he bought it used in the early 60s and the mirror was on the car then. Hope this helps!
